The Hills are On Fire
Color, Texture & Timing
I love. COLOR. The last couple of years I have grown to not be afraid of color. I think that color should not be oversaturated but maybe manipulated just enough to bring out the mood you want the viewer to feel. I absolutely love the untouched images also, the photos that display a story should not be manipulated as if you do that, you are manipulating a view point and that is not the truth. Image manipulation has its place and time. My landscape photos however are my art and I love to play with the color, however, the colors of the land, I do not manipulate much. If the colors look a little orange, I color grade the reds to look more red and true to what I witnessed. I live in the Southwest and have gotten to experience some of the most insane landscapes. The colors and the textures are quite literally out of this world. To capture them it is all about appreciating the little things, those being the color, the texture and timing. If you go right as the sun is low, the reds in the hills will pop and the skies will show off their beauty behind them. If you get close to the land formations, you will be in awe of how many different types of textures you can find.
To properly see the southwest, you must be willing to let go of your time restraints and experience the quiet passing of time away from cell service, appreciate the textures and the color.
